Sephora’s Spring VIB sale is finally here, everyone!
As we all know, Sephora can be a pricey addiction so their annual Spring savings event that happens every April–known as the VIB sale–is highly anticipated.
For many of us, money is tighter than usual due to the pandemic but if you want to invest in one or two outstanding products, I’m here to help!
If you’re a Sephora beauty insider, you can enjoy 10% off your purchase, VIB members can enjoy 15% off, and the big macdaddies, ROUGE members, can enjoy 20% off. To get your discount, use promo code springsave.
Anyone can be a beauty insider. The program is simply a loyalty rewards program that accrues points for every dollar spent.
I am a VIB Rouge member with Sephora….
How do you reach VIB Rouge?
Spend $1,000 in a calendar year.
Am I ashamed of this? Hell no! Am I embarrassed? Yes, but only slightly.
See, I grew up with horrendous acne. Something I’m sure many of you can relate to.
I treat my skin like a baby and I take very good care of it. The health of my skin is something I do not really have a dollar cap limit on… Within reason.
With all that being said, I’ve obviously tried many products from Sephora, from makeup, to skincare, to hair products… I’ve found some holy grails, and certainly some flops.
There are a few products that are certainly way over-hyped by social media influencers… Don’t worry honey, we’ll get to those later.
For now, let me share with you the 5 HALLELUJAH-THANK-YOU-SWEETBABYJESUS-I-FOUND-THIS products.
#1: Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peels
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel
Girl, are you new here?
If you aren’t, and have read literally any packing list or beauty post of mine, you know I swear by these pads.
It should be no surprise they’re first on the list.
Wondering if these products are right for you? Let me ask you a few questions…
Are you tired of your face? Do you want a new, better face?
Do you have stubborn textured spots or blackheads that you can’t get to go away no matter what scrubs or masks you use?
Do you have dark spots or pigmentation you want to fade?
Then these peel pads are for you!
Yes, they’re *very* expensive. But let me say: If you only buy 1 item from this list, these peel pads should be it.
I recommend buying the trial size with 5 treatments before committing and always start with the ultra gentle version so you can test how sensitive your skin is to them!
Begin by using once every few days, every other day, or even every night, depending on how well your skin reacts!
#2: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
Did anyone else’s mom teach them the trick of spraying their prom makeup with hairspray to make sure it lasted all night?
This is like that but way better for your skin!
If you aren’t already using this cult favorite, what are you even doing with your life?
The product JUST. WORKS.
I can’t count how many times I’ve repurchased and I’ve tried samples of so many other sprays, NONE COMPARE!
You can imagine my delight when I went to restock my staples for the VIB sale and saw they now sell a jumbo size! Squeeeee!
You bet your ass I bought that bad boi!
#3: Origins Super Spot Remover
Origins Super Spot Remover
Who gets pimples? I know you do. We all do!
But did you know there was a cure!?
It’s this sucker!
This teeny tiny bottle retails for $19 which seems expensive for you only need a dab on the end of a q-tip. It lasts such a long time.
After cleansing your face, apply this to your pimple or breakout before using any other products. Once it dries, go in with the rest of your skincare regiment.
Your pimple will be gone in 12-24 hours with literally no signs that it ever existed.
With my troublesome skin, I would weep if I thought about all the money I spent on spot treatments that didn’t work.
I purchased this years ago and never looked back. Everyone I’ve ever recommended it to, or let try it, hasn’t either.
#4: A Good Makeup Brush
Look, I get it if you can’t afford expensive makeup. That’s okay!
You can make inexpensive makeup look like a million bucks if you just invest in the tools to apply it instead!
Of course, we all love our beauty sponges but some foundations and concealers just do better with brushes.
If I had to only pick one brush you should invest in, it would be this one:
Marc Jacobs The Face III Foundation Brush
This brush could blend out the jankiest foundation and make you look like you’re wearing an Instagram filter IRL.
I actually have the first version of this brush and I’ve had it for years. No hairs are falling out and it’s in excellent condition. Still works just as well as the day I bought it!
If you prefer a flat sided brush, this one from Marc Jacobs is also exquisite.
#5: Coola Sunscreen
COOLA Classic Face Sunscreen SPF 30 Lotion, Cucumber
Literally any sunscreen from this brand.
If you read my coverage about The Bahamas, I mentioned how my girlfriends ended up using this because their sunscreens ended up irritating their skin.
Coola’s line is organic and reef safe! The face sunscreen is perfect for everyday use under your makeup.
The ingredients not only protect your cute little face from the sun’s harmful rays, they’re also really good for your skin!
If you have sensitive, oily, dry, or acne-prone skin, you know how difficult it is to find a good sunscreen that doesn’t leave you broken out, red and splotchy or drier than the Sahara.
Well, fret no longer my dears! I did the work. I tried dozens of other sunscreens, from chemical to organic and this one is the best, bar bar none.
It’s expensive, yes. It might be much more than you’re used to paying for sunscreen but trust me when I tell you that it’s worth it.
What we put on our skin is important and something we should be mindful of.
While you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to look amazing, sometimes the value and quality of a product is reflected in its pricepoint.
If a product has excellent ingredients, sustainable packaging and has enough quantity, then a higher price point is fair.
That being said, there are plenty of lines and products from Sephora that just aren’t that good and I’m baffled they get away with charging what they do.
Plenty of products from companies that simply have an excellent PR team and know how to properly promote a product through social media influencers.
I’ll be discussing those soon in a future post!
