It’s about day 4,576 of quarantine and we’re all either going crazy or we’ve passed crazy and moved on to making the most of our surroundings.
Don’t get me wrong, I made quite a few detours through Looney Town but I’m touring through Productive Ville at a nice leisurely pace and slowly but surely improving the place I find myself spending MUCH more time in… My home!
Many of us in big cities are stuck in smaller spaces. While I’m fortunate enough to have a yard, our house is rather small and a few smart changes–and products–have made all the difference in sanity, and aesthetic!
If you’re looking to make the place you’re spending 99.99% of your time in to more of a sanctuary, take a look at some of these recommended products.
For Your Bedroom…
If you have a small bedroom, every square inch counts. My nightstand is often full of my nighttime skin care products, candles and a giant glass of water so this bedside has been a godsend for my journal and the
occasional frequent glass of bedtime wine.
Ultra Chic Hangers
Having uniform hangers is an often overlooked part of elevating your space. I love velvet hangers because they work for every garment and have no slip while taking up minimal space. These are cute and a great value!
Under Bed Storage Bags
Under Bed Storage Bags
If your house is like mine, storage space is limited. Typically used for holiday decorations and cleaning supplies. We’re also further pressed for closet space. I can’t keep all my clothes out no matter the season! 2-3 times a year, I rotate my wardrobe; Storing coats and sweaters when Summer rolls around and vice versa. PLUS(!) it’s a great way to fall in love again with pieces you already have once you pull them back out after months in storage!
Pretty Power Strips
We’ve all been in those houses (or offices, etc.) that have you wondering, “Who the heck designed this!? Have they ever been in a room!?” Like who needs an electric socket right next to a door?! That is, if you even have enough sockets! We all need these bad boys, so why shouldn’t they be cute? I have one behind my bed where I have my lamp, phone charger and heating pad plugged in. PRO TIP: Rather than leaving it on the floor, buy these command strips and adhere it to the wall!
Beautiful Wall Stickers
Peonies Wall Decal
Don’t these just make you say “WOW!?” Whether you own your home and have the luxury of painting and doing what you will with your walls… Or you’re a renter and your lease restricts you from painting, these are a great way to glam-ify your space without damaging it. Trust me, when people see it, they’ll be asking, “Where did you get that!?”
A Pretty Laundry Basket
I’ve seen so many videos on TikTok of people with crazy cool laundry chutes and other fun laundry ideas. That must be nice but I’m not there quite yet. We may not be able to hide the laundry but we can make it look as aesthetically pleasing as possible with these cuties.
Effective Sunglasses Storage
There are endless ways to store your sunglasses but they’re usually large bulky boxes that don’t actually solve a problem (other than protecting your lenses) because they take up as much–if not more–space that the sunglasses already did. I love this tower because just like shelves, it elevates the glasses and frees up room!
Plug In Sconce
Plug In Sconce
If you’re unable to put new wiring in to your home, a plug in sconce is such a cute, easy way to add beautiful lighting to your space! I have this installed above my headboard for those nights when I’m up reading. Helps me avoid the heartbreak of waking my sleeping pup to turn the light off!
I love this necklace organizer. I’ve seen so many influencers sharing it on their home feeds and I knew I had to have it. I love displaying my jewelry because I’m one of those people that if I can’t see it, I probably won’t use it. Jewelry is one of my favorite things to buy and I have so many pretty necklaces so I really like having this on my windowsill.
Chic Tiny Dresser
My bedroom is so small, I actually can’t reasonably fit my bed and a dresser in there… At least not without inducing constant claustrophobia. I also don’t have a walk in closet but I do have a long closet that could accommodate sliding this dresser in to. I’ve ordered this and I’m so excited to get half my wardrobe off my makeshift shelves!
For Your Kitchen…
Over the Door Organizer
Over Door Storage Shelves
It’s pretty common in small spaces that there’s very limited, or even no pantry space. This is the case in my own home. I was so sick of our olive oil, sugar, flour, coffee, mixers, bread and butter taking over our counter space. It started with a few things here and there… and before I knew it, just the sight of our counter made my pulse rise. Lucky us, we do have a door in our kitchen that leads to our laundry room. We hung this on that door and it’s been a lifesaver!
Grocery Bag Holder
Grocery Bag Dispenser
We all have bags on bags on bags either shoved under our sink or in a drawer that gives you an aneurism just to open. Don’t throw away those bags away in your quarantine decluttering! Just spend a few bucks and get this cutie and adhere it to the inside of the cabinet under your sink!
This Adorable Kitchen Cart
Rolling Kitchen Island
While our kitchen doesn’t have a lot of storage, it did have enough space to allow this rollable kitchen cart. Many of the reviews said it was great for their microwave or coffee maker. We use it for towels, veggies and paper towels or flowers. It’s extremely easy to assemble, good value for its money and has drawers for mitts or utensils. We’ve had it for over a year and it’s held up great!
Space Saving Spice Organizer
Slide Out Spice Rack
I can’t wait for this to arrive at our house. While it’s on the pricier side, it was the most effective for our kitchen. We love to cook and have so many amazing spices from Adobe to truffle powder and digging it through it every time we cook has been such a nightmare I’m sure many of you can relate to.
Chic & Uniform Containers
24-Piece Clear Containers
We all know you’re overdue to replace your tupperware. You’re frustrated every time you have to pack up leftovers because you can’t find the FREAKING LID to anything! I like this set a lot because it’s chic and a good bang for your buck.
Shelving Storage Hooks
Shelf Storage Hooks
These hooks are great to hang mugs or spatulas and other utensils from. You just slide them on to the bottom or your shelf and voila! A lot of the reviews say they need to be screwed in but a decent double sided adhesive can also get the job done. We are purchasing for our spatulas since we have 2 canisters stuffed taking up our oh-so-limited counter space.
An Adorable Toaster
There are certain things that just HAVE to take up space on your countertop. What makes a big difference is making sure those items are sleek and attractive. This toaster is both! It’s certainly not heavy duty but it’s unlikely you’ll need a toaster than can make 4 sandwiches at once if you’re in a small space anyway.
For Your Bathroom…
I have this weird thing with shower caddies… Well, I guess it’s not “weird.” I just hate them. Seriously. I have no idea why but the look of some metal thing hanging over the shower head just irritates me. It’s so ugly! Instead, go for a chicer option with shower shelves.
If you have a small space, you likely have quite limited storage space. With that, the trick is to get things up off the ground and to create storage. I have these in my bathroom for makeup and skincare and by our front door for keys and small plants.
A Covered Trash Can
Bathroom Trashcan With Lid
I purchased this after my dog went through a bout of eating our bathroom trash while I was at work—YUCK! This was a cute solution. PLUS, rather than throwing out our other trash can, I just used it as a recycling bin for the boxes and plastic from my bathroom products.
Unique TP Holders
The bathroom in my rental is tiny and there’s little I can change about it with (heinous) glass shower doors, ugly flooring, you name it. But an often overlooked and easy way to elevate your bathroom is to change the toilet paper holder! It’s super easy to switch and only requires a screwdriver.
I love this acrylic organizer because it can function as a tower and it allows me to see all my lippies at once. I have a disgusting amount of lip products and I love interchanging them! Before this, they were piled on a tray or in a drawer or dispersed through several different purses.
Makeup Brush Caddy
Before this, my brush container was literally a mug from our kitchen. I love this little cutie! And it’s got a little more space than my mug.
These apothecary jars are soooo pretty they’re just dying for an excuse to buy them. They’re perfect for storing your cotton swabs or q-tips!
Decorative Dental Storage
If you’re not fortunate enough to have storage behind your mirror, you’re in the situation that your toothbrush has to be out. So why not make it work (“designers”)?? I love this little stand because it has space for a few brushes, plus your toothpaste while keeping your space cute!
