Just as I started 2019 with a list of travel goals, I will be doing the same for 2020. And while I unfortunately didn’t complete everything on my list in 2019, it was so amazing to look back and see everything I did accomplish.
I’m so Type-A and love my lists and goals. And what I love even more: Going back to my lists and crossing things off!
So without further adieu, let’s get started with my travel goals for the spectacular year of 2020!
Take a Selfish, Lazy Beach Vacay
While it is my hope to make this blog a full-time gig someday, at times, the pressure to get the perfect shot and make sure I have all the pertinent information for my readers can be a bit… overwhelming at times.
With that being said, my dear friend and I are wanting to start the year off right with a shameless beach vacay.
After monitoring flight deals, we decided to go to The Bahamas for 4 days. While it wouldn’t have been my first (or second… or third…) choice, we booked due to the flight deal and the fact that it fulfills our only desires: Warm water and sunshine.
The Bahamas is a known destination if you’re married, have kids, or just someone who likes resorts.
I am none of these things so I’m looking forward to covering the side of The Bahamas for young, single, adventurous travelers.
Go to Another Continent
I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t left the continent of North America yet and 2020 is the year that changes!
Go to Egypt
My best friend was an archaeology minor and a total geek for this stuff. When I mentioned to her I was considering Egypt instead of Central America for my birthday in 2020, she basically leaped out of her chair. While Egypt is generally safe, especially in the tourist areas, there is still a certain fragility to the political climate. So, if for any reason, it wouldn’t be wise to go there, we are considering an Oman road trip as a backup plan.
Save at Least $5,000 Towards an Extended Trip
For years, I’ve wanted to take an extended trip abroad. (At least 1 month, hopefully 3 or more.) While a leave of absence like this wouldn’t be possible with my current job, that won’t be the case forever and it’s time to start taking concrete steps towards my dreams. (Like this blog!) I’m hoping to take this trip within the next 3 years (by the time I’m 30) and would want to do Europe or Central Asia.
Visit Colorado Again
In July of 2019, I visited my home state for the first time in nearly 6 years and it was much too long.
I forgot how much I loved Colorado and how much more of it I want to explore.
Aside from that, the older I get, the more I value time with my family, of which I have much in Colorado.
Visit a US National Park
This is a carry over from my 2019 post and unfortunately, I didn’t make it happen! I have no particular park in mind this year but with so many amazing state parks in America, it’s long overdue that I start checking them off my Bucket List.
Explore More of Washington, DC
I saw so much more of my magical home over 2019 and there is still much more! Guys, I still haven’t been to the Lincoln Memorial. Can you believe it?
I want to bring you more content to discover the hidden gem that is Washington, DC and help locals find great things to do, places to eat and sights to see!
So what’s on your 2020 travel bucketlist!? Let me know in the comments below or on Instagram since I’m sure you’re following me!
